A random search of my favourite sites throws up, doom, more doom and the world's largest potato. I know what I'd rather read about at the moment. A site dedicated to uplifting news of every persuasion, The Optimist's community of seasoned journalists take a daily look on the bright side (and not in an irritating, holier than thou sort of way).

No, not an homage to Guy Fawkes' Gunpowder plot, but a stylish new online lifestyle magazine. Sheer genius!
I'm somthing of a luddite when it comes to Youtube (and don't even get me on to Facebook) but every now and then an absolute gem pops up on it. This is a prime example - someone with enough time and creativity on their hands to turn some Eddie Izzard sketches into lego cartoons. Death Star Canteen has to be the best, but the others are all pretty amusing. Turn the volume up and enjoy!
